*Before Armi did a very "2012 thing", which was to take photos of the crowd* |
Last night was the very first time I've ever been to an album launch. Up Dharma Down has set the bar high. The turn out was overwhelming to the point that they had to refuse entrance at the venue. Shows how big their following is - which isn't very surprising!
The people were ecstatic to see one of OPM's best to get on stage and play the songs that was once the stories of their lives. They were also psyched to listen to the new creations which obviously met their expectations (and mine).
I always wondered how tough it was to evolve as an artist. To change ones music style and yet still sound like yourself. Up Dharma Down has evolved with quality. It was quite nice to hear more dance-y beats in some of their songs. Has a bit of a new wave take on it. I didn't know that The Blue Nile was one of their biggest musical influences, too! I started listening to them in college and had them in my old iPod mini. Pretty incredible that they got to do a collaboration for their song, "Feelings".
I'm not kidding when I say that Capacities will be playing all day long in my iPod today as I write for work and drive out later in the afternoon.
Wohoo! I'd love to see them live next time too! Yay for you Abi!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they'll be playing in a couple of music festivals next year! :)
